Unit 1 discussion

Introduce yourself to your classmates with your name, location, current employment, and future goals.

After reading the unit lesson, describe a situation within your personal or professional life where you may have benefited from the use of project management.

Unit 2 discussion

We live in a time-poor world, both professionally and personally. We are always looking for methods to be more efficient and to squeeze additional things into our days. An important part of project management is time management. What are some of your methods of effective time management, both personally and professionally?

Unit 3 discussion

Describe how you might use project-planning tools to plan something within your personal life such as a vacation or holiday celebration.

Unit 4 discussion

Choose a type of project management scheduling software that you have used or have observed/researched, and share how it works and the benefits of its use.

Please review the software packages that your fellow classmates have discussed in this discussion forum, and select a different one. Comment on fellow students’ posts regarding both positive and negative experiences you have had with the different software packages. Also, think about the applicability of different packages within your professional workplace.

Unit 5 discussion

Understandably, cost control is important to all companies, no matter their size. Share a company or experience you have been involved with that involved cost control measures. Look at it holistically as well as from a short-term perspective. Respond to several of your fellow students’ experiences.

Unit 6 discussion

The topic of women in leadership roles has been heavily debated for years. From political roles to securing higher-level roles within corporations, there seems to be an inconsistency of women holding these positions. This week’s lesson discusses not only this gender bias but also the glass cliff. Discuss your perspective on both of these concepts, including some level of discussion around how companies (large and small) can empower women in all roles throughout an organization. Bring in examples to support your rationale, and respond to fellow student posts.

Unit 7 discussion

Identify a company that you are familiar with that does a good job of risk management. Include your rationale on why you believe they are effectively managing their risk. What risks do you see?

Unit 8 discussion

Reflect on topics learned in this course as they could apply to your particular discipline and job. What specific skills might you be able to apply to your current position? Respond to fellow classmates’ reflections.
