DQ1 Erikson
Erikson believed that people must pass through eight different psychosocial stages in their lifetimes in which people resolve a resolve a different psychosocial crisis at each stage. He believed that when a persona resolved these crises satisfactorily, he/she could moved on to the new challenges. However, if a person did not resolve a crisis in a satisfactory manner, then this crisis could continue to be an issue that the person would continue to have to manage in later life.
Please watch the video discussing Erikson’s 8 Stages of Psychosocial Development. Pay close attention to the first five stages, because these are the stages that occur during early school-age life. Please choose one of the first five stages and discuss this stage in detail with examples.
DQ2 Vygotsky & Piaget
(A). Lev Vygotsky’s work explored a concept called the “Zone of Proximal Development” in addition to many others. Based on your reading and viewing the “Proximal Development” video on the unit page, please provide your own real-life example of the “Zone of Proximal Development” and discuss how it might be applied to the field of education.
(B). Chapter 2 discusses the views of both Piaget and Vygotsky in cognitive development. Please watch the video “Piaget and Vygotsky in 90 Seconds” on your Unit 2 Course page. In reviewing the text and videos, how does the work of the two theorists seem both similar and different? Please provide real-life examples to support your claims.
