This assignment should be completed after watching the narrated PowerPoint presentation on the current economy (“Current Economic Conditions Video March 2019”) and reading the Wall Street Journal article “Hiring Slumps, Though Broad Picture Suggest Expansion will Continue”. The link to the presentation and the article can be found in the CourseDen module called Material for the Current Economic Conditions Assignment Due April 14. Type your answer to the following questions in paragraph form. Be sure to proofread your answers for spelling and grammar. Current Economic Conditions Assignment

Describe the recent history of the U.S. economy. In your answer you should discuss what happened to GDP, employment, the unemployment rate, and inflation during the recession and what has happened to each of these variables since the recession ended through the most current data. Your answer should have four paragraphs – one for GDP, one for employment, one for the unemployment rate, and one for inflation. Your answer should discuss the specific data described in the video (just saying the data went up or down is not enough, you must refer to the numbers).

How many jobs were created in the U.S. economy in February? How did this compare with analysts’ expectations? What sectors of the economy experienced weakness or slower growth in February? Describe how could the government shutdown in January could have contributed to the weak payroll employment growth in February?

Some economists think that the job market is not as weak as the February employment report suggests. Describe two arguments that the article gives for why job creation may pick up over the next several months.
