Organizational Readiness Assessment

Before undertaking any technology implementation, it is important to conduct a readiness assessment. Use the Organizational Readiness Assessment document, linked in the Resources, from Stratis Health’s “Health Information Technology Toolkit for Critical Access and Small Hospitals – Section 1.” Adapt this document to assess the level of preparation at your organization.

Attach the assessment to your discussion and analyze your findings. Explain what your organization has done to prepare for the areas in which it is rated highly, and propose potential steps for improvement in areas that do not score well.

Response Guidelines

Review your colleague’s readiness assessment and compare it to the one you have created for your organization:

Are there areas in which both organizations score highly?

Are there areas in which both need improvement?

Is one institution far better prepared for a technology implementation, based on the assessment?

Are there any steps or techniques that you could implement at your institution to improve readiness based on your colleague’s review of their own organization?

Are there any steps that have worked well at your organization that you would recommend your colleague attempt at their own organization?
