Benchmark – Informed Consent

This is a two-part assignment.

Part 1-

Create an informed consent form, 500-750 words,that you might use in practice. Find some examples or templates from https://cirt.gcu.edu/?search=consent+form or http://www.who.int/rpc/research_ethics/informed_consent/en/.

Part 2 –

Find someone who is willing to have the informed consent applied. In 250-500 words, reflect on how the experience of going through the informed consent went:

Describe what changes you would you make to your informed consent? What would you have to clarify more?

What ethical guidelines influenced your informed consent?

How did you describe the privacy/billing practices to them? Discuss what changes you might make for that portion of the discussion.

What questions did the client have during the process? Describe how you addressed them?

Emotional Intelligence

Complete “Management: Self-Assessment” located on the McGraw-Hill website; then give or have someone else complete the same assessment for comparison. In a paper of 750-1,000 words, do the following:

Compare and contrast your emotional intelligence results to someone with whom you interact.

Recommend coaching strategies for improving level of emotional intelligence for self and for volunteer subjects.

Describe steps you will take to be “in check” with your emotions, include some possible consequences of not being “in check” with your emotions.

Describe how you will ensure that your emotional state is appropriate when interacting with clients.

Create a “living guide” of coaching steps that a life coach would use in an initial session to assist in building a road map with the client (review the text on pages 47 – 55 for steps).

Summarize each coaching step.

Describe, for each coaching step, the strategies you would use in an initial client session.

Explain what skills the coach will need to effectively apply the step/strategy with a client.

Week 6 assignment

Coaching a Client

For this assignment, you will be practicing and applying some of the skills learned so far.

Find someone to volunteer to be your client.

Create a questioning strategy you will use to determine the goals of your client. Include two to three scholarly resources to support your questions.

Identify the client’s goals and objectives for coaching.

Assess the client readiness for coaching.

Create a road map (action steps for the client to meet the goal) for your client. Include two to three resources to support the action steps created.

*Note*- please remember coaching has an element of confidentiality. Please do not identify your client by name in any of your writing.

You will turn in your questioning strategy and the road map to the assignment dropbox. Please review the attached document “submitting multiple attachments” if you need help with this task. You will write a reflection of this activity in the next Topic. You may consider starting that process as soon as you complete this assignment so you may capture some of your thoughts and feelings.

Week 7 assignment

Coaching Reflection

In 750-1,000 words, write a reflection of your application/practice session from Topic 6. In your reflection;

Explain the questioning strategy you used to determine the goals of your client.

Describe some of the challenges you faced in the application of the skills learned, include how you overcame the challenges for the betterment of your client.

Discuss your client’s reaction to their road map, include any questions they may have had and how you handled those questions. Describe what resources would you recommend to the client and why would you recommend those specific resources.

Identify how you would continue to guide the client through any issues/setbacks.

Explain your niche for coaching and why you decided on that niche, including what skills and attributes you bring to the field.

Outline your immediate goals in coaching, including timelines for completion or meeting those goals.

Explain how you will plan to market yourself for a specific niche as a life coach. Consider your method of marketing, other coaches in the same niche, your strengths and challenges.

Outline your plans for maintaining your professional growth and development in coaching and specifically your niche field; include timelines.

Include three to five scholarly references.
