Your initial discussion board response is due each Thursday at 1159PM and your two responses are due each week by Sunday at 1159PM. Please answer one of the discussion questions below and write at least 200 words on the topic being sure to answer all aspects of the question. It is a good practice to write your post in Word and then copy/paste into Canvas so you can spell check. You must include 2 scholarly references in your initial post. Your scholarly reference must be from a current (last 5 years) nursing or medical journal. You may use textbooks and websites as additional references only. Everything must be cited in APA format (6th edition). Check the rubric to be sure you earn all points for the assignment. Evidence of plagiarism will result in a zero for the entire assignment and/or disciplinary actions. Question 1 What are health data standards and why are they necessary? Support your answer. Question 2 Review the four standards categories described in chapter 7. Select two standards to discuss further. Include in your answer what type of standard it is (transport, vocabulary, context, or security) and a summary of the standard. You may “mix and match” (i.e choose one standard from different categories). Question 3 Select two recognized terminologies an/or data sets from the table 8.2 on page 118. Provide an explanation of each and describe how each is relevant to your job as a nurse. This assignment ties to the following unit objectives: Examine the need for health data standards and the standards development process. Describe the impact of standardized terminologies on nursing.
