Week 5 Discussion 2 – SocioculturalMuch has been said and printed about school culture.  When we look at the term “sociocultural context,” we are combing social and cultural factors.  As the article (link below) points out that while we throw this term around often simplistically, it is important that educators have a comprehensive understanding of what “school culture” really is.   The article goes on to list some of the broad characteristics of a positive school culture. Further, if we look again at the meaning of sociocultural, think about the sociocultural context of the families that make up your school and the surrounding community and how they impact the students that are in your school.  As a school executive, how can you assess the cultural information that impacts instruction?  How will your role be different as you consider both school culture and cultural factors in leadership?  Developing and Assessing School Culture: A New Level Accountability for Schools (CEP: Character Education Partnership)Your initial responses are due by 11:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday and should be between 200-250 words.
