This is a Discussion post from a student. All I need to do is to give a response base on this post. also I need references When it comes down to which factor that I think contributes more to development, I would say that nature outweighs nurture. Statistically, there is a 50 percent contribution from both nature and nurture that contribute to psychological development. However, I believe that the environment you grow up in and the type of people you are raised by influence you greatly. When looking at the twins in the video, not all twins were exactly the same. In fact, some of the twins liked completely different things. In my opinion, you are more heavily influenced by what you are surrounded by growing up. No two people will go through the same exact experiences, tragedies, or excitements in their life. Although I believe this is true, I also believe that genetics can play an important role in what skills you acquire and how you use those skills to your advantage. For example, if identical twins were separated at birth and one was raised by abusive parents and the other was raised by supportive friends and family, they are going to psychologically develop differently. They may have the same features such as hair color, eye color and height, but they will act and behave in different ways because of what factors and conditions they are used to. If I was adopted by another family as an infant, I would not be the same person that I am today. The reason I act, behave and think the way that I do today is because I was raised my supportive parents who teach me unique and valuable lessons. My parents inspire me every day and I would not be the same person without them. I know that if I were raised by some of the other parents who live in my town, I would not act the same and probably wouldn’t make the best choices. My friends also influence me in positive ways to be a better person. We have all been through so much together that we are always there for one another no matter what. I do not think I would be as positive as I am today without them.
