Coping StrategiesIndividuals generally exhibit one of two main types of coping strategies—problem-focused or emotion-focused. A problem-focused coping strategy involves changing your behavior, the behavior of others, or the source of the stress; whereas, an emotion-focused coping strategy involves relieving emotional distress (Folkman & Lazarus, 1980). Children and adolescents tend to use more emotion-focused strategies such as releasing the emotions or distracting themselves while adults tend to use more problem-focused strategies by directly addressing the problem. Consider the coping strategies of a parent and a child with a health issue and the differences in their behaviors. How might these different coping strategies affect how parents and children deal with a child’s health issue?  With these thoughts in mind:Post by Day 4 a brief explanation of how a parent/guardian’s coping strategies may affect how a child might cope with a health issue. Then, explain how a child’s coping strategies may influence the parent/guardian’s coping. Provide specific examples.
