The RIP Project is intended to give you a deeper appreciation for what it means to make rhetorical choices and use genre conventions in order to convey a message as well as an opportunity to reflect on those choices.Project Essay Like each of the essays we have read in class, your essay must have a specific message. You will choose one of the options listed below, craft specific questions on your topic that you seek to answer, and perform outside research with respect to the rhetorical situation: subject, text, audience and context.Option A – Personal Narrative For this option, you will write a narrative essay, meaning that you are in some way a primary subject of the essay. Joan Didion’s “On Going Home” or Chang-Rae Lee’s ‘Coming Home Again’ are examples of this form. You might choose to write a profile of a significant figure in your life. Or you may choose to write about larger social dynamics that have affected your life, like Didion. Or, you may choose to write about your family history or some other significant area of your life.
