Respond to each response: 1. I also prefer contemporary positivism and reflected the use of interpretivism in certain areas of practice. I find the mixed-use qualitative and quantitative methods interesting as they each seem to feed into a specific pattern. The pattern being Quantitative, nomothetic, and contemporary positivism; qualitative, ideographic, and interpretivism. When I looked at the efficacy of mixed methods research (MMR), an example of how they can be combined provided was: One of the designs starts with quantitative research objectives, collects quantitative data, but performs qualitative analysis (Baskarada & Koronios, 2018). Following this approach, I would think that there would be plenty of assumptions needed to complete a qualitative study, especially in the absence of the participants. Another option mentioned is to synthesize research of each type (Baskarada & Koronios, 2018), I believe this type of MMR may be easier, yet possibly time-consuming since similarities being study groups would be needed. Which option would you choose for MMR?An article titled ‘State-Level Immigration Policy Context and Health: How Are Latinx Immigrant Parents Faring?’ is an example of the latter option. I chose interpretivism as the paradigm I was most drawn to but had not considered it as being the best one for guiding social work practice however, you make a good argument for that consideration. I appreciate how you described the attributes of the paradigm and their influence on social work practice.
