1. Download and save 2 datasets in MS Excel format from the Department of Statistics, Singapore website, SingStat Table Builder. The data may be on the Singapores economy, industry, trade & investment, population, households or society. The datasets downloaded do not need to be complicated. 2. Seek and obtain approval from your module tutor for the 2 datasetsdownloaded.
3. Perform descriptive statistics on real-life data using MS Excel Data Analysis Tool Pak. Refer to the detailed illustration and instructions on how to perform descriptive statistics using MS Excel Data Analysis Tool Pak from the video lectures taught in class and in Polymall. Save the output of the descriptive statistics on the same worksheet as your raw data.
4. Analyse the 2 datasets using the descriptive statistics generated (central tendency, dispersion and skewness) to uncover and compare interesting trends among groups (e.g. of people, age-groups, industry-groups) and/or across time for a single group (e.g. in the 1980s vis–vis 2010s).
5. Note that 2 datasets mean 2 different variables. For example, age and income are 2 variables. However, age of males and age of females will be considered 1 variable. Thus, you would need to select data on 2 different variables for this assignment.
6. Prepare a written report on your analysis and findings.
