There are two belief systems when it comes to morality. One of them is relative morality.  Relative morality means that morality changes due to circumstances. I have found an article online about women’s rights in the middle eastern culture which I would like to use as an example for relative morality. For example, women are given no legal recourse to domestic violence and are not allowed to divorce their husbands. (Danon, 2020). And in many cases, the woman does not decide her husband, she is given a husband without choice.  This means that a woman can be beaten by her husband, and she is not even legally allowed to divorce the man she basically becomes his property. This fact is a relative morality because it is accepted in the middle eastern culture and viewed as moralIn the United States, it is not viewed as moral if women are underrepresented in political possesses. The other belief system is called universal morality. Universal morality is when morality does not change due to any circumstances. It means that the example I presented above that women are mistreated and often abused is never rightI support the view of universal morality because I think that things like the example, I presented are not ok and should not be looked at as normal. Some things such as cold-blooded murder, rape, theft of personal property, etc… are wrong and there is no light to paint them in such a way as to make them right.  Without moral values such as this, civilization falls apart and we would descend into chaos. With a clear set of morality and rules for life civilization flourishes. Universal morality means that things like this are not ok in the whole world. It does not matter which culture, sex, race or nationality.
