25 Sep Scenario: Olga and Ray Schmidt are a young couple in their mid 20s

Scenario: Olga and Ray Schmidt are a young couple in their mid 20s. They married after high school graduation at age 18, and nine months after they had Johnny. Currently Johnny is a six year old boy who is having a bit of trouble at school. Ms. Williams, Johnny’s 1st grade teacher, has complained to the counselor and principal about Johnny making sexually explicit noises and gestures during class. Also, she reports that students complain about Johnny making sexually obscene comments, and as consequence these classmates claim they feel scared around him.

The truth is that Johnny has witnessed his parents having sex. Johnny explains to the counselor that one time he caught his parents late at night in their room and when he entered the room he ran to his parents to intervene thinking that his father was hurting his mother. His mother angrily slapped Johnny and tossed him across the room, screaming and shouting at him using profane language. From that first experience he learned to not ask questions or intervene when he witnessed his parents having sex. He sometimes pretends he is sleeping only to spy on his parents, and he quietly cries in fear, but also gets very angry, particularly at his mom. Johnny explains that this whole experience has transformed him into an angry, confused, fearful little boy, and he “doesn’t know what to do.” This situation has been going on for six to seven months, multiple occasions, and yet the parents are not aware of Johnny.

The damage, at any rate, is done. The child has already been exposed to sexually explicit behaviors (images, gestures, etc.), and has created major confusion and fear in the young 6 year old’s mind. Perhaps, a six year old is not of an appropriate age to be exposed to sex… and worst yet, in a circumstance involving his own parents in this manner.
