  DescriptionOver the course of 8 weeks, you have completed (3) different formative writing assignments including a summary, autobiographical analysis or the Writer’s Portrait, and a multimodal visual argument and analysis or the Advocacy Text. Writing would be incomplete without reflection over what we have learned and what progress remains to be made. Below are the course objectives you first read in week one:Finish this statement, “By the end of this course, students will be able to….”

  • closely read, critically interpret, evaluate, and respond to other writers' texts;
  • write pa.pers with a clear thesis, logical structure, and cohesive, well-developed paragraphs;
  • write pa.pers with clear, varied, well-constructed sentences, with usage and mechanics conforming to standard edited English;
  • demonstrate an understanding of writing as a complex, recursive process whereby ideas are explored, developed, and communicated to a particular audience for a particular purpose; and
  • identify writing conventions and rhetorical expectations across a range of academic genres

At the end of all assessed written work, you have been evaluated on how well you met each of these course outcomes (this evaluation reflects growth over these core competencies but has not affected your overall grade). By the beginning of week eight, you will have received a personalized “report card” of how you progressed on each of these outcomes. In some areas you may notice gradual growth, in other areas, you might notice immediate improvements, and some of these core competencies may still be a work in progress–that is okay! Using the report card and the above course outcomes, you will need to submit a final course reflection over your progress and genre awareness and address each of the following questions.The purpose of this reflection is not to evaluate the course, my teaching, or even express how much you liked/didn’t like aspects of English 101. The reflection is your final opportunity to reflect deeply on the writing process and evaluate your work as it relates to opportunities of continued growth. Your pa. per should be submitted in three sections, mirroring the below organization.Section 1: Learning Competencies and Outcomes

  • What areas or outcomes are areas you excelled or grew in across the last 8 week, based on your learning mastery core competency record?
  • What areas of growth and development do you notice based on your learning mastery core competency record?
  • What learning outcomes do you need to continue practicing on your own writing journey?

Section 2: Peer Response & Group Work

  • What has been your experience with peer work and peer response before this class?
  • What were your experiences like working within your writing peer groups for this class?
  • Summarize the feedback you received across all of your es.says and how does that inform the areas of writing you need to continue working on?
  • Do you have any suggestions for making the peer response process more effective?

Section 3: Genre Navigation

  • Describe each of the different es.says you composed for this class, detailing the rhetorical situation for each one (i.e. audience, purpose, genre/type of text).
  • Which of these three genres did you enjoy the most? Which of these three genres was most difficult for you? Why?
  • Based on your own academic career, what genres do you expect you will run into again? What areas do you know you need more practice with?

Technical Requirements

  • Final Course Reflection should be 1,000 words in length but may be longer, formatted according to MLA guidelines
  • Original Title at the top of your reflection  "Walker WK1 Reflection" is not original. Try and think outside of the box and pull something unique and individual from our weekly assigned readings
  • All sections thoroughly answer the questions and formatting matches the instructions above
