Case studies are an essential learning  strategy in business classes; they provide an opportunity for you to  critically analyze events that have taken place in real-life businesses.  This develops your critical thinking and research skills as you  research the competition and industry in which your business resides  with an end goal of formulating a recommendation for the challenges  faced by the company. The case studies in this course are aligned with The Society for Human Resource Management Body of Competency and Knowledge (SHRM BoCK). They address the key functional areas of human resources and human capital management.  For this assignment, you will review the following case study: Collective Bargaining in College Dorms. • Do you think that the resident advisor (RA) should be classified as an employee? Why, or why not?
• Describe the specific practices for managing the employer/union relationship that is present in the case study.
• Explain what the advantages and disadvantages would be for these individuals to join the unions.
• Explain employers’ practices against legal requirements for health and safety laws.
• What specific factors lead to the RA wanting to join a union? 
• Discuss the training required for the RA and evaluation methods required for assessment.
