Downtown High School is a public school in the San Francisco district, and this school is located in the Vermont St. The school’s neighborhood is in the Potrero Hill. The school’s mission is providing an alternative educational experience to high school students, and supporting high school students’ academic and personal growth through project learning. The school’s vision is through educational experience and curriculum to attract high school students, so they can develop their necessary awareness and self-determination, and create a positive and meaningful path presents and future ( SFUSD, n.d.).
According to Public School Review (n.d.), the school serves 144 students. There is a large proportion of minority students in this school. Hispanic student was 57%, and black students was 22%. Two or more races was 10%, and American Indian, Asian, White, Hawaiian were accounting for a small proportion. Through NICHE( n.d.), this school’s academic, clubs and activities are in the lower level in the SFSU data.
It is important to address to the school’s lower graduation rate in the San Francisco. Especially, minority and black.
