United States’ Progressive Political Movement in 20th Century

United States is the leading political progressive country in world. Much of it was realized in the 20th century, especially when the Theodore Roosevelt was the president of the united. Much of the political witnessed today in the United States is because of the leadership.

Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States, who ruled from 1901 to 1909. He took the reins of the presidency after the assassination of president William McKinley 1901 (“Progressive movement,” 2020). Before becoming the president, Theodore served in various political position which include of New York and 25th Vice president of the united. He was smart and screwed politician and, in his time, United States realized tremendous developed tough is practical and policies; anti-trust and progressive policies (Gould, & Shah, 2021). The US leading in as the powerful country in the world currently is much related to his strong leadership qualities.

Roosevelt knew that economy was the most import aspect of the United States. Therefore, he introduces economic reforms that shaped the United States economically significantly. He named his presidency Bully pulpit to popularize reform ideas with the public. He had tremendous influence in the congress which turned the presidency the most powerful force in the national politics.

When he took office in 1901, the trusts (industrial combination) were common and considered responsible for the steady increase in prices, which had been happening since 1897. In response to this trust, Roosevelt activated Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890; the trust had laid dormant because Cleveland and McKinley had refused to enforce beside the supreme court 1895 ruling that did not apply to the combination in manufacturing (Abiziane, Abderahmane, & Mabrouki, 2020). Roosevelt ensured that the antitrust act was function Roosevelt ensured monopoly was brought down giving chance other firms to thrive in the united state market.

In 1903 Roosevelt forced the congress to investigate Bureau of Corporations which investigated business practices in the US. The bureau provides substantial information key in the antitrust cases. Also, he intervenes the labour market by forcing arbitration of a strike by the United Mine Workers of America and the Pennsylvania coal operators.

The economic polices brought by Roosevelt administration formed the foundation of the currently robust economy in the United States. This placed the country a head of any other country in the world. Also, his strong political influence made American to realize the importance of a strong political leader and thus shaped the democracy significantly.

In the twenty centuries the world was thrown in to wars, World War I and II) which had a devastating effect on the in-world economy, especially countries that actively took part in the war. During this time, America tried to stay neutral for sometime and in the process build a powerful army and economy. And it became the determining factor to the end of the both wars.

The political serenity and the robust economy, United States thrived significantly in technology which placed her a head of any other country. It the technology that allowed to thrive in all fields from business, farming, medicine and military. The United States is currently the leading country in all aspects of technology. With advanced technology, united states has thrived in different areas spurring economic leading substantial revenues. With enough resources, expertise and technology, united states can thrive economically, strengthening its power globally.
