For this MCA, you will be preparing a paper which responds to questions about this module’s topics. To assist you, we have prepared a template for you to use. This will help you to organize your paper. Follow the instructions below and please ask your professor if you have any questions.

 

Instructions

 

1. Download the Module 2 MCA Paper Template (in the Module 2 Management Concepts Assessment in Blackboard). You will use this document for your paper.

2. Open the document in Word, and click Save As to place your name in the beginning of the filename.

3. Type your name in the cover sheet.

4. Type the date submitted (example: October 1, 2021).

5. For each heading in the template (example: Chapter 2 – Managerial Decision-Making), you will see an area to type the responses to questions on this instructions sheet.

6. Additional guidance:

· Your paper should follow APA format, and should be  in your own words. Any content you take from a source must be inside quotation marks and must be cited in-text (author, date).

· In APA formatting, you are not permitted to use “I.” Instead, you must be an independent researcher. Say, “the organization” or “the salesperson,” not “I would.”

7. You should list the references you used to develop your paper.

Chapter 2 – Managerial Decision-Making

1. Explain why group decision-making can be more effective than individual decision-making.

2. According to the textbook, what are some things that can prevent groups from making good decisions? Provide a real-life example.

 

 

Chapter 3 – The History of Management

 

Chapter 3 provided an overview of the many contributors to the definition and practice of management from the earlier days of civilization, through the industrial revolution, and into more modern day. Your text provided a visual overview of how some of these contributors to management theory relate to one another in Exhibit 3.6 (shown below):

 

 

1. How did the Industrial Revolution affect the progression of management theory? What was Adam Smith’s contribution to management, and why was this so important?

2. How did Frederick Taylor change management?

3. Choose two other major contributors to management, and describe their contributions.

4. Of all of the contributors to management theory covered in this module, describe one which speaks to you, or which you see today in modern organizations and feel is important for managers to understand.
