Nursing Philosophy.

As an Art and as a Science, How Has Your Personal Nursing Philosophy Unfolded?

Most people choose to become a nurse because of how passionate they are about assisting others. Most nurses are extremely in love with their careers because they live through the eyes of many patients. Nursing is a science as well as art. Studying theories throughout the nursing course has shown that nursing was founded and built based on the care for others. Nursing is an art to take care of other people. Nurses are useful and assist others who value them when dealing with chronic diseases. As a science, the profession ensures patient safety in all areas of patient care like plans of treatment, assisting in daily living operations, as well as supporting the family as a way of creating and sustaining the healthcare system.

Have There Been Ideas That Have Challenged Your Personal Values Or Assumptions?

Throughout my nursing career, none of my assumptions or values was challenged. Therefore, most of the assumptions and values were reinforced and supported with ideas and theories presented throughout the course. Theorists, who came up with nursing theories, created a better guide for the nursing profession (Schiller, Pesut, Roussel, & Greig, 2019). They designed assumptions with the needs of patients in mind, and that all matters in the nursing profession.

Have Some Ideas Have Caused Your Personal Conflict and May Lead to Deconstructing Those Dispositions in a Critical Manner?

Throughout the course, no idea that may result in critically deconstructing the acquired dispositions gave me personal conflict. Most nurses agree with all that they learn in the course. They try as much as they can to put themselves in other people’s shoes and, at the same time, analyze their ideas.

What Actions Do You Take That Illustrate Your Personal Nursing Philosophy?

Nurses practice everyday actions with courage and passion. They practice with their nursing philosophy in mind keeping the values, morals, and beliefs up a high couple with ethical practice (Schiller et al., 2019). They treat clients with respect and love they need and deserve when receiving healthcare services. Nurses care for everyone until they return to their initial conditions, and that is what their profession is all about.

Describe Your Own Definition Of The Concepts Involving The Metaparadigm Of Nursing.

The main focus of a professional nurse must be on the patient. Nurses should offer compassionate care to all clients without judgment or discrimination. Clients require empathetic care from healthcare practitioners. Hence, nurses should establish a lasting relationship with clients and attend to all their needs. Healthcare practitioners, like nurses, should enhance their competence in holistic care.

The nursing metaparadigm is a framework of ideas that demonstrates the connections between nursing, environment, health, and a person (Littzen, Langley, & Grant, 2020). A person can be a patient or their close family members, and the work of the nurse is to take care of this person until they can on their own. On the other hand, health is personal well-being and how they can be independent. The environment is where healthcare services are given to patients. The setting can be of an acute healthcare establishment like a nursing home, clinic, or hospital. Therefore, nursing is perceived as an art based on standards of practice and code of ethics that controls the interactions between patients and nurses (Littzen et al., 2020). The rules sustain the existing relationship in the healthcare setting. It is, therefore, seen as a privilege being a nurse, and nurses should act with ultimate seriousness since their profession touches on human life.

Has Your First Written Philosophy Of Nursing Changed? In What Ways?

Nursing philosophy has not been altered, and nurses have the opportunity to widen their horizons and learn more about the vast profession that they selected as a career. Nurses can now implement various nursing theories in their everyday operations.
