The M7A1 Leadership Activity and Paper assignment addresses the importance of communication and the application of effective leadership characteristics, styles of leadership, and leadership theories to a health care issue influencing nursing practice.

Instructions
Part 1: For this assignment, you are to attend a professional meeting which addresses a health care issue with implications for nursing practice. Examples of a professional meeting could include: meeting of a 1) professional nursing organization (New York State Nurses Association, Association of Perioperative Nurses ,etc); 2) health care organization or place of employment discussing policy or procedures impacting nursing practice; 3) legislative meeting discussing safe staffing, mandatory BSN, etc.
Part 2: Write a 6 – 8 page (excluding title page and references) scholarly paper addressing all of the following areas, supported by a minimum of 5 current (within 5 years) scholarly references and written in APA format. As this is a paper describing your experience and reflection on that experience, you may write in the first person. This assignment will account for 20% of your grade.
Use the scoring rubric and follow APA format as you complete Part 2 of this assignment.

Late Assignment Policy: All assignments are expected to be submitted on time. Prior authorization from your instructor is required for late submissions. *Some types of extenuating circumstances that will be considered are:

a death of an immediate family member,
a significant change in employment or military status that prevents the student from completing the assignment/assessment,
a significant trauma in the student’s life that impairs the student’s emotional and /or physical health,
technical issues that prevent student from completing the assignment/assessment by the designated due date/time.
Documentation may be asked for extenuating circumstances at the discretion of your instructor.
