For this Discussion, you will evaluate qualitative research studies and methodologies for special education research.

To prepare:

· Review the Learning Resources, as well as the Additional Resources, for this module. Locate the sample qualitative research studies highlighted throughout the resources and pay particular attention to the types of questions being addressed by each study.

· Identify the qualitative research studies from this module’s Learning Resources that you found to be the most compelling with regard to its implication for special education. Consider how the research question could have been addressed using a different qualitative approach.

Focus onthe major assumptions of qualitative research. Reflect on ethnography, case study, multisite, phenomenological, and grounded theory approaches. Look carefully at methodological issues and the role of qualitative research in studies in special education.
