Essay Expectations

Essay Topic: How internet has impacted society.

– You will be writing a 3-5 page essay on your presentation topic.

• Includes- introduction, thesis, conclusion, body paragraphs and good transitions between paragraphs.

• In- text citation using at least 4 of your sources and proper format.

• You must use a minimum of 4 sources and they must be used in the text.

• You must have at least 2 peer reviewed articles as two of your sources

• You need to include websites in your work cited

• Proper sources- No Wikipedia, editorials, biased or opinion based websites, or student essays.

• Proper use of paraphrasing.

• No more than 7 lines of quotation or paraphrasing per page.

– Your essay should cover your portion of the presentation. Provide a well-rounded essay that reflects your knowledge and explains things as if you are writing for someone who knows nothing about the topic.

– The essay can be informative or persuasive but not opinionated.

– The essay should not contain personal opinions or be written in first person. No I statement.

– This essay must be written in APA, ASA or MLA format

– You will lose 10% if your essay is late

– Your essay will not be accepted if it has plagiarism. You have to cite within the text and have a work cited at the end of your essay.

• Covers 4-5 points

• you should not copy and paste large sections of text from your sources and paste them into your essay. You should only use the citation that is needed to back up your points.

Presentation Expectations

Topic: The Same Topic As Essay

– This presentation will be made available to your classmates for them to view.

– You can use prezi or powerpoint

– If you use google docs please convert your presentation to a power point so that we will be able to view it.

– If your presentation is turned in but we either have to download it or we can’t view it then you will lose 10 points so please make sure it is viewable after you turn it in.

– Make sure your presentation is organized not too wordy and is creative.

– You will be required to either have a transcript in the notes section of the presentation or have audio for the presentation.

• Creates 8-10 slides

• Organized presentation

• Includes an audio and transcript

• Clearly explains the slides

• Provides relevant information from reputable sources

• Provides information not easily found or already known

• Provides statistics and facts to back up statements

• Non-opinionated statements

• Minimum of 3 resources. You must cite all three sources in the presentation

• Sources cited using APA, ASA or MLA format.

• Work cited at the end of the presentation.

• Citation of all sources within the presentation and especially if exact words are being used.

• At least two sources have to be peer-reviewed articles

• Demonstrates a unique perspective on the topic.

• Use multiple contradictory sources

• Do not simply copy and paste information from your sources.

• Be creative with your information

• You are required to apply theories and/or concepts from the book ” Ways of social change 2nd edition and course discussions

• Discuss both sides looking at the pros and cons of each when applicable

• Use images- at least 8

• Use graphs to display information

• Make your presentation visually stimulating rather than one color.
