FIRST, please respond to one of the following options. Pick one of these moments of advice and offer up your analysis.Option 3:In the second half of this text, several characters: the Scorpion People, Siduri the divine tavernkeeper, Urshanabi the divine ferryman, and Utanapishtim the man who survived the flood bar Gilgamesh’s progress to the land of the immortals. Furthermore, there are material and immaterial obstacles: the tunnel of the Sun, the Sea of Death, and Sleep. Joseph Campbell states that these “gatekeepers” are not meant to hinder or block a hero’s/heroine’s progress, but to test his/her readiness for the adventure. Pick one of these “gatekeepers” or obstacles and offer up your analysis of how he/she/it moves the epic forward.In addition to posting your response to one of the options above, your initial post should also contain a question or observation you have about the text that can further advance text discussion.This original post must be 200-300 words total, include contain specific references.For quotes and paraphrases of the Epic of Gilgamesh include a citation in which you abbreviate the name of the epic in italics with the tablet number in roman numerals and line numbers in arabic numbers. Enclose the citation within parentheses, so (Gilgamesh IX.23 – 25) and in most cases put the sentence period after the closing parenthesis. For quotes and paraphrases from another source include a full citation within parentheses: author name, title, year: page(s). This first writing must be posted by 11:59pm Saturday of each week in order to allow for discussion. Students will not be able to see peer posts until the original post is submitted.THEN, respond to any TWO peers who choose a different option than you. Students must respond to TWO peer posts by 11:59 Tuesday (end of week). These responses should work to answer or respond to the questions/observations posed by peers, must be at least 150 words each,  and include further specific and cited references to the text or other course materials. (5pts. for the original, 5pts. for the two responses).   Materials that are late will be deducted 5% per day late and receive minimal feedback.  Materials over a week late will not be accepted. Any technical errors or online submission errors will be handled on an individual basis. Correct and punctual submission of assignments is the responsibility of the student.
