Peoplehood Project GuidelinesStudents will produce a professional-quality in which they: (1) Holistically describe an indigenous nation of North America, including: a. Traditional aspects of their culture, especially focusing on the facets of peoplehood b. The contemporary situation (present-day political/economic/cultural/linguistic situation) (2) Analyze contemporary challenges to the peoplehood of this group, making sure to: a. Be very specific to this group (i.e. it is not enough to simply say “like many groups they face X issue) b. Draw on theoretical paradigms from this course (for example, peoplehood, resource colonialism, or language shift) c. Also include responses or resistance to these challenges, if applicable Research Sources This student must draw on research with eight applicable sources. For the purposes of this project, applicable sources are: Scholarly Sources: Scholarly books (i.e University Press) or peer-reviewed journal articles Primary Sources: Sources written or produced by the indigenous nation itself, or a member of that nation. Applicable sources do not include anything else. Non-applicable sources will not count towards your eight total, and may result in deductions. References Citations are expected for anything you draw from someone other than yourself, per Academic Integrity (please consult UNT policy and the syllabus if necessary). You must include parenthetical, in-text citations with page number, following the Chicago Style Guide. You must also include a references cited section, following the Chicago Style Guide. A References Cited section does count towards the minimum length of this assignment. Length You must include twelve full paragraphs of text, and at least 1,500 total words.
