Once the survey isadministered to at least five (5) corrections professionals workingin a county jail, a state or federal correctional institution, or aprobation/parole office, then the data will be collated to compareand contrast with the textbook (theory) documentation on the topic ina “best practices” evidence presentation.Research:For the purpose of this project, each student will be aninvestigator. It is important to ask participants about currentissues and trends in corrections and specifically their worklocation. The second part of the investigation will be researchingthe topics presented by the corrections professionals based on thesurvey results.ResearchPaper Requirements: The survey results, research documentation,and analysis will be presented in the form of a research paper. Thelocation of the survey will be identified and the participants willbe identified by job classification only (not name). The paper lengthis dictated by the topic, but should be not less than 2000 words,including a cover page, and reference page (not counted as part ofthe 2000 words).The paper must conform to the requirements of APA formatting, toinclude (1) cover page (running head, page number, title, author,university), (2) abstract, (3) discussion (only facts are to beincluded in this section and must be listed as in-text citations; allopinions, personal experiences, and personal thoughts are notpermitted in this area), (4) conclusion (opinions, personalexperiences, and personal thoughts are permitted in this area), and(5) references.ResearchPresentation (PowerPoint) Requirements: Once the student hascompleted the research and paper, he or she must develop a PowerPointPresentation of 10 – 20 slides based on the Research Project Paperfindings. The presentation should be created as if presenting to theclass and the faculty. The presentation must include examples ofissues and trends that face this profession, solutions or remediesthat are in place, and challenges a criminal justice manager shouldbe aware of in dealing with similar issues. As an FYI, “Running head:” no longer precedes the short title on the Title page. Avoid the 1st person for all formal papers. As per APA standards, use headline caps for Level 1 headings.
