Case Study – Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
I.J., a 62-year-old man, presents to the Urologist with a diagnosis of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. He admits to feeling “lightheaded” at times, especially when getting up in the morning. He does not need to get up during the night to urinate but still has trouble getting his urine steam started. His main concern is impotence and would like to start sildenafil citrate.
Vital signs are T – 37.2°C, HR – 72, RR – 18, and BP – 110/68, SpO2 – 98% on RA. He is on the following medications:
Tamsulosin 0.4 mg PO daily
Atorvastatin calcium 10 mg PO daily
Toprol XL 25 mg PO daily
