Application of Rational Equations: Parallel Resistors

A rational equation is an equation whose numerator or denominator are polynomials.  There are many uses of rational equations.  For example, in the electrical field, rational equations are often used to simplify parallel resistors:

This rational equation states that you can replace parallel resistors with an equivalent resistor or vice versa.  In this discussion, you will explain how to solve this resistor equation for an equivalent resistance.
