The National Organ Transplant Act became law in 1984 Because there is a critical organ donation shortness the U.S Congress passed the National Organ Transplant Act in 1984. The act itself is to improve the system of the United States so that there will be more organs available to save lives. The goal of the Act is to promote a long and healthy life for thoes suffering from any type of organ failure. By doing so they also promote organ supply, safe and effective care, organ allocation, and access to transplantation. They have a goal to increase the number of organ transplants, access to the transplants. This is such a law to have passed. The law of The National Organ Transplant Act has been set up through Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OTPN) to help place the organs where they need to go. My grandfather ended up needing a liver transplant. The system that they have is very organized. The only downside to this is how long the wait can be. Studies have stated that eight thousand people die every year waiting on the organ that they need.
