Getting Started

What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

In Academic Writer, which you should be using regularly now, you can add annotations to your bibliography, which is extremely helpful as you build your collection and want to remember how a particular article held value for you and your research.

Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

• Create an annotated bibliography.

Background Information

Instructions

1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade. 
2. Read Annotated Bibliography(new tab) in Writing Commons.
3. Conduct additional research on your topic through OCLS(new tab) to locate at least three new articles that can be used to extend, deepen, clarify, or address weaknesses in your blog. If you have not already done so, request a Personalized Search Plan from OCLS, but be sure to give them ample time to return it to you for your assignment. (Plan ahead!)
4. For at least one of the selections, locate, download, and read a scholarly article that would support doctoral research on the Virtuous Business Model as it relates to your chosen topic. Consider using a Boolean search on one or more words/phrases: virtuous business, virtuous organizations, virtuous leaders, virtue and ethics, Christ-centered, or any of the words contained in the VBM.
5. Write three annotated bibliographies using the following resources:
   1. Document: Example Annotated Bibliography(PDF document)
   2. Document: Outline for Annotated Bibliography(PDF document)
6. Edit your bibliography entries for correct writing and formatting.
7. Submit your completed assignment by the end of the workshop.
