Jane is a practice nurse and has been living in the Mountain View community for over 15 years. She is very friendly with the elderly community and has been helping some of them with ideas on healthy living and diabetic nutrition. Mr. Jones is a 75-year-old veteran, and he lives an active life. However, his age is telling on him now: He forgets things; sometimes, he wanders around the community. The other day, someone brought him home because he looked lost.

Jane recommended that he make use of residential care services. She also introduced him to active aging at home. Nurse Jane promised to look for resources, including financing for medical and other services for him.

Consider the following questions:

What are some of the physiological and psychological changes that Mr. Jones is going through during the aging process?

The International Council on Active Aging outlined 9 principles of active aging. List these 9 principles, and discuss any 5.

Select a programmed or nonprogrammed theory, and explain how it relates to the aging process in humans.
