OVERVIEW

In order to better understand the applied nature of Homeland Security, the student will complete a Research Paper which, will give an overview of Homeland Security and will contain the following headings:

Homeland Security Overview

1. Mitigation – All hazards approach, including risk assessment, intelligence usage, and mitigation strategies (prevention as well)

2. Preparedness – Response including NRF, NIMS, ICS, and unified command

3. Recovery – Including resiliency and continuity of operations planning

4. Response – Include all main aspects of the response

INSTRUCTIONS

Using the sample APA 7 Student paper as a guide for proper APA format and the headings listed above, construct a paper that gives a general overview of Homeland Security. In detail, discuss the four pillars of homeland security, Mitigation, Preparedness, Recovery, and Response. Discuss each of these components and their importance to the Homeland Security paradigm.

Items to include are outlined as follows:

• Paper must be at least four full pages of content.

• A minimum of 5 references are required.

• Standard APA Formatting will be used.

• You will include biblical integration.

• Acceptable sources should be scholarly articles published within the last five years.
