In the Unit 3, you will submit the first assignment for this course, the Windshield Survey. All the other assignments in this course will relate back to the Windshield Survey assignment in some way. As practice and preparatory work for that assignment, access the Demographic Data Form (linked in the Resources). This form is based on material from page 18 in yourCultural Competence in Health Education and Health Promotiontext and you will use it to complete a demographic profile of a population at the organization where you work or at a local health care organization. For this discussion:
Complete the Demographic Data Form, in Resources, for a population at the organization where you work or at a local health care organization. Attach the form to this discussion.
Summarize your findings. In developing your summary of findings of the data you gathered, you may find it helpful to consider the questions below:
What are the most important things to know about a population in order to address health care needs?
What vulnerable and diverse populations are present in your organization?
Note:You can continue to work with this population and organization for the Unit 3 assignment or you can choose a different population and organization altogether.

Response Guidelines

Review the Demographic Data Form of your fellow learners and respond to at least one.

Given what you learned from the assigned readings this week, what was the most beneficial information on the form? Why? Suggest ways the findings can be elaborated upon or improved. Your response post should be at least 75 words. If you are responding with a personal perspective or an example from your workplace experience, you are not required to cite a source. However, if you offer an alternative viewpoint or refer to the ideas or work of others in your response to a classmate, your response must be supported with an outside source, which you must cite using APA style.

Healthy People 2020 and Diverse Populations

For this discussion, you will need to access the 2020 Topics and Objectives section of the Healthy People 2020 Web site, linked in the Resources. Select one topic and review the “Overview” tab for your selected topic.
Your discussion post on your chosen topic should:

Describe the topic and the stated goal.
Identify any diverse or vulnerable populations that are at higher risk, or for which disparities exist with regard to the topic.
Propose and briefly explain one strategy that could help address these issues for one of the diverse or vulnerable populations identified.
Your initial posting should be at least 150 words and you must reference the work of another writer (either as a quotation, paraphrase, or summary) to support your ideas. The source can be the course text, another relevant book, any assigned reading, or an article you find on your own through the Capella University Library. When you incorporate the other writer’s ideas in your work, use APA citation style to give credit to that writer. Remember that an APA citation includes both the in-text citation (the author’s last name and the year of publication) and the full reference for the source.

Response Guidelines

Review the posts of your fellow learners and respond to at least one. Your response post should be at least 75 words. In your response, you must do one or a combination of the following:

Ask a probing question.
Offer a suggestion.
Elaborate on a particular point.
