Apple has gone through enormous growth over the past 10 years. Their charismatic leader is gone but his appointed successor has the reigns. Apple has billions in cash (as of this writing) and still making a profit, although sales of iPhones – that everyone is watching – are down and growth has slowed. There is dissension on the board.

JCPenny is in financial trouble. The turnaround CEO they hired from Apple failed miserably. The current CEO is the “old” CEO. They need a plan to get out of the hole and begin growing as a mature company. There is dissension on the board.

What are the board members saying? Are they getting support form other board members? What are the shareholder concerns? How are the boards responding to shareholders/investors? In your opinion, are the boards trying to help their respective organizations? Or are they in reality hurting these companies?
