As you add to your draft, think about how Cadogan’s essay develops. He gives his reader a strong sense of how his location affected his thinking/behavior. When you were younger, how did society view an overweight adolescent? Were these perceptions different when you moved to Irvine, CA?  Cadogan also provides the reader extensive details on how he adapted to life in New Orleans and the consequences of not quite understanding the city, even after 8 years. Your reader could have similar questions of you – how long have you been on your journey? What range of consequences have you experienced for deciding to change your physical self? Have you also changed emotionally?  I am from China and in my culture, people prefer skinny. The rate of overweight is low
