Outline the first three things/steps you will do as you begin your investigation. For example, will you start by doing some research about the disease? Or would you begin by interviewing Sara? Would you interview someone at the agency? If so, who? Or would you do something else? Please explain your rationale.

Research requires adequate preparation and procedural execution of important initial steps to gather relevant and valid data, resulting in the collection of valid and reliable data that yields valuable conclusions. (Stieglitz et al., 2018). The first step to gather relevant information in research is to conduct a literature review. Literature review opens the research to various methods and information gaps that are existing. Knowing the existing information gaps facilitates designing research objectives that will address the questions that will facilitate the relevant collection of data. Reviewing literature also helps design data collection methodology and tools that will only collect information that is missing. The second step is to identify the relevant target population for data collection. Determining an appropriate population helps n collecting specific data. It is important to narrow the population sample (Gabbert et al., 2020). Narrowing down to a manageable sample size is important in reducing the budget and duration of collecting relevant information. For instance, interviewing Sara and other people in the agency is important. Research on the disease will involve patients and health care workers in the agency. These individuals might include health practitioners, health insurers, and funders. In the criminal investigation project, it is important to interview investigators, law enforcers, and criminals suspected or jailed for crimes. This is important because it helps obtain valid information within the scope of the research. Gathering relevant information requires the identification of pertinent information sources. The third step is to clean the data. Data collected might be inappropriate based on the research questions posed. Eliminating information that does not answer research questions, among other outliers, helps to validate gathered information. Valid information must meet certain criteria established for the study. Gathering relevant information assists inadequately answering the research questions appropriately (Roberts et al., 1996).
