Module 2 Discussion

Over the next three weeks you will have the opportunity to develop a learning tool in a manner that will help you better understand the material since it is based on how you would like to see the material presented. Module 2, 3, and 4 assignment follows:

1. Select a topic from the class of your own choosing. Examples would be declaring variables, assignment statements, if statements, looping such as for loops, arrays, etc. Topics cannot be duplicated between students, i.e. check the posts and choose something that hasn’t been done. If you need time to create your topic post and thin someone might “snag” it before you are done, then post your intentions and “reserve” it, i.e. post a note that give your name and the topic you are doing.

2. Topics MUST be something we will be using in class as part of the exercises. Do not select topics that are not part of this course. These topics will not be graded.

3. Assume you are teaching this topic to the rest of the class.

4. Prepare the topic in terms of explaining it to the class meaning you should write about its purpose, how, when and why you use it, its syntax, provide a sufficient number of examples to cover the most useful cases. Examples should be syntactically correct, i.e. the right syntax

5. For week 3, and 4 select a different topic. Weeks 3 and 4 topics must not be a topic that anyone covered in Week 2. You will have to read and make a list of all the topics that were covered in the previous weeks.

6. For all topics, you may use whatever research areas you choose, the book, the internet, etc., for your topic but you may NOT cut and paste the materials. You may paraphrase your resources and you must cite them so we know where they came from but the “write-up” must be in your own words. Provide examples that work, making sure syntax and logic is correct.

7. Your posts to your classmates should provide recommendations for improving\expanding their topic through additional explanation or examples. Do not merely say how you liked it, or how helpful it was (you can say this but it can’t be all you say).

8. The DG points will be based on how thoroughly you cover your selected topics, as well as, the feedback you provide to your classmates.
