As you progress through this course, you will encounter several companies in the textbook that havegone through a process in which best practices have been evaluated, developed, implemented, andmonitored. These companies have established hundreds of individual best practices that can beobserved, duplicated, and used in other companies. You are assigned three different companies toperform a case analysis of those best practices.

This assignment requires you to identify and evaluate the best practices that the three selectedcompanies developed and implemented in the cases contained within the textbook, and answer severalspecific questions related to the best practices of these three companies. In addition, you are to identifythe best practices that were used, and analyze them for their effectiveness.

The content that must be included in each case analysis increases as you progress. “Perform youranalysis through chapter 4, 8, and 12” means that you are to only use the analytical tools and informationdiscussed up to that point in the textbook. As you progress through your textbook, you will encounterseveral companies in the textbook that have gone through a process in which best practices have beenevaluated, developed, implemented, and monitored. Thus, each chapter illustrates different processesand varying levels of implementation of the best practices that these companies have established. Youare to address only the chapters that have been covered at the specific point when you perform the caseanalysis. Many of these individual best practices and processes can be observed, duplicated, and usedin other companies. You are assigned three different companies to perform a case analysis of the bestpractices that were chosen during the development and implementation process previously discussed.

PRM 522 Best Practices Portfolio Guidelines and Requirements

Based on all the knowledge you gain through this class and specifically the hundreds of best practicesyou encounter, you are to develop a best practices program or library for your company of choice. In yourBest Practices Portfolio, you are to choose several key areas that are specific to your organization andestablish a set of best practices for each key area. As an example, if you choose a manufacturingcompany, your key best practices areas might include, contract negotiation, material pricing, inboundlogistics, outbound logistics, purchasing and requisition, inventory control, production control, and/orfinished goods inventory to name a few. Your objective is to choose several key results areas that arecritical to the type of company that you choose, evaluate, and implement several best practices withineach key results area. By now you should know that service, retail, and manufacturing all have differingkey results areas. Even though some key results areas may be the same, the best practices may differbetween industries, companies, and departments.

You are required to integrate the Saint Leo University Core Value of responsible stewardship into yourBest Practices Portfolio. Since you are dealing with raw materials, human resources, and capitalresources the responsible stewardship Core Value will easily mesh with any set of best practices.
