Module 3 – Case

TRAINING METHODS; IMPLEMENTATION OF TRAINING

Assignment Overview

Overview of the Case Project that spans four modules:

NOTE: In this assignment you will prepare a 2- or 3-page Section 4 AND a 4- to 5-minute training video.

As you complete the four Case assignments in this class, you are preparing, section by section, one large project. You will practice what you have learned by planning a training program following the ADDIE model.

Section 3—Implementation. Include Sections 1 & 2 above your Section 3 before you submit your assignment to the Case 3 dropbox.

Having the prior sections all in one paper will show how the phases build upon each other and will also make the paper easier to write and review. Only the section due for a specific module will be graded in that module, since the prior sections were graded previously in their respective dropboxes.

Select one of the training topics listed in Case 1 and carry it through the five ADDIE steps. (The ADDIE steps are explained in the Gardner videos presented on each of the modules’ Background pages).

Case Assignment

Continue with the training topic you chose in Case 1. DO NOT CHANGE TOPICS. Go through, step by step, the Implementation phase of the ADDIE model, covering everything in detail as it pertains to your training topic. Be as specific as possible. If there is unknown information, make logical assumptions for the information needed and include a section in your paper showing the assumptions you made. Bring in at least one source found outside of your course materials to help build your paper (be sure to cite sources).

Phase: Implementation

Train the trainers (you are the instructional designer; someone in the field will be the trainer). Briefly discuss the objectives, activities, media and assessments needed. Discuss these aspects as your Section 4. ALSO—

Provide a 4- to 5-minute video of a sample from your training course, prepared to show the trainers what you expect. For example, if the ultimate learners are to learn how to clean a bathroom, then cover that content in the video.

Once you have completed the two components needed, submit both your paper and video to the Case 3 dropbox by the assignment due date.

Interview Assignment –Instructions

For the Interview Assignment, you will be interviewing a current public or private school teacher, homeschool teacher, retired teacher, or pre-school teacher before the final submission in Week 6.

The Interview Assignment will be completed in the Interview Assignment Template in two parts:

1. For Week 3, you will complete Part 1 by

a. Selecting an interviewee and providing the details of the interview – who, where, grade level, position, and when. Confirm an appointment date and time with the teacher.

b. Constructing 5 open-ended questions to ask in an interview. These questions will be added to the 5 questions provided in the Template so you will have a total of 10 questions to use for the interview. Create questions that will invoke a detailed response. You may not use questions that simply require a yes or no answer. Hint: Use your textbook content in Chapters 5 and 6 as a guide to help you create your questions.

Submit Part 1 of the Interview Assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 3.

2. For Week 6, you will

a. Fill in the Interview Assignment Template with the responses to the interview that you conducted. The interview may be conducted by phone, email, or in person.

b. Write in complete sentences in paragraph form with each response clearly articulating the answer to the interview question.

c. At the end of the template, create a reflection paragraph of 3-5 sentences that descries at least 3 influential pieces of advice obtained in the interview.

d. Reference the interview at the end of the document using the following format: Interviewee, A.A. (date of interview). Type of interview

e. Post the completed interview into the Discussion Board by Friday of Module/Week 6.

f. View and reply to the posts of 2 other classmates with at least 100-words following the given prompt. A minimum of 1 reply post must be supported by an in-text citation and the reference listed in current APA format. See APA Basics in the Instructions section for specific guidelines.

Submit Part 2 of the Interview Assignment in the Discussion Board by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 6.

Interviewee Selection: It is your responsibility to reach out to an individual who fits the above qualifications to schedule and complete the interview. This assignment seeks that you reach out to an acquaintance, friend, or family member. If you cannot find an individual who meets the qualities listed, contact your instructor for assistance in finding an interviewee. Please do not cold call a school or school system and ask to interview a teacher for this assignment.

Important Information Regarding School Districts — Do not contact without approval from your EDUC 200 Instructor. Assignments within EDUC 200 do not require students to contact school districts. This assignment seeks that you reach out to an individual personally, not formally through a school system.

Due to strict guidelines provided to Liberty University by the school districts we work with, it is imperative that you review this information regarding school districts. A number of the school districts that work with Liberty University request that students do not contact them directly, but that the university initiates contact. This resource will be used in future courses, but not in EDUC 200. Review the following website to determine if contacting a school is appropriate: http://www.liberty.edu/academics/education/teacher/index.cfm?PID=25664.

Do not directly contact any school districts listed on this website. You are free to reach out to any schools/districts that are not listed on the website with approval from your instructor if you are unable to secure an interview with an acquaintance, friend, or family member.

Submit Part 1 of the Interview Assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 3.

Submit Part 2 of the Interview Assignment in the Discussion Board by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 6.
